Job summary

Crusoe is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, SDN Control Plane to lead the team building the scalable control plane for VPC networking and the Crusoe Cloud frontend network in Seattle. This hands-on senior leadership role owns the architecture, implementation, and production operation of distributed systems that program multi-tenant virtual networks across large-scale GPU fleets.

You will drive technical ownership, architecture and reliability with 3-6 month execution cycles, mentor staff

Qualifications

• 10+ years in distributed systems or cloud networking engineering.
• 5-7+ years of experience managing senior/staff-level talent.
• Deep knowledge of SDN and network virtualization: overlay networking (VXLAN/Geneve), VPC constructs, routing (BGP/EVPN).
• Experience building large-scale control planes: state reconciliation, consensus and configuration propagation, API design.

Responsibilities

• Technical Ownership: define the roadmap for the VPC control plane and evolve network virtualization systems to deliver VPCs, subnets, security groups, NAT, and hybrid connectivity.
• Architecture & Scale: design distributed control-plane services with intent APIs, state reconciliation, policy compilation, and host/DPUs programming to scale beyond current fleet size.
• Production Execution: lead reliability engineering, convergence and API-latency benchmarking, incident response, and durability in 3-6 month cycles.
• People Leadership: mentor and grow senior and staff engineers, set technical standards and a performance-focused culture.
• Collaboration: partner with data-plane teams (XDP/eBPF, DPDK, DPU offload) and cloud product teams for low-latency, highly available multi-tenant GPU networks.
