Job summary

Lambda in San Francisco is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design and build the next generation of our network platform. You will develop systems and automation powering our software-defined network across data centers and cloud environments, working deeply in the Linux networking stack and SDN integrations.

You will join a team delivering highly available services with observability, automation, and reliable lifecycle management, including on-call contributions and incident tooling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven SDN design and production-scale implementation experience.
• Hands-on experience with OpenStack Neutron, OVN, or similar.
• Deep knowledge of the Linux networking stack and systems programming.
• Experience with multi-data center and hybrid cloud networking.
• Proficiency in C, Go, or Python for network services.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and GitOps for infra networks.
• On-call rotations and incident response experience.
• Experience deploying on Kubernetes and networking lifecycle tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software to scale Lambda’s high performance multi-tenant cloud network.
• Develop reproducible automation and tooling for network configuration and deployments.
• Implement and operate Software Defined Networking services and related control-plane software.
• Engineer highly available network services through observability, failover, and redundancy features.
• Deliver predictable networking performance for clients via software-driven network engineering solutions.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain network monitoring and management tools and services.
• Participate in on-call and contribute to incident response tooling and automation.
