Job summary

CTM is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) III to join our QA-focused team in Maryland. You will own quality from planning through launch, driving risk-based testing across multiple components and services in a fast-paced SaaS/UCaaS environment.

You will design and implement automated test strategies, build reusable test frameworks, and mentor junior QA engineers. Hybrid work arrangement and competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software quality assurance or testing experience in a professional environment.
• BS in Computer Science or related analytical discipline preferred.
• Strong testing skills across web apps, services, data, and workflows.
• Proficient in at least one language (JS/TS/Python/Ruby or similar).
• Experience building automated test frameworks and reusable tools.
• Experience testing APIs and integrations in complex apps.
• Strong problem-solving to diagnose cross-service issues.
• Ability to own quality work from requirements to launch.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Ability to manage quality risks, dependencies, and changing priorities.
• Proficient with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium in CI/CD Pipelines.
• Solid understanding of testability, reliability, security, performance.
• Mentor other QA engineers and share knowledge.
• Passion for continuous improvement and new tech.
• Large-scale web app testing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality strategy for moderately complex projects spanning multiple services.
• Design clear manual and automated testing approaches for reliability and security.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable libraries.
• Develop automated testing in CI/CD, including API, integration, and E2E tests.
• Create risk-based test strategies for integration and data flows.
• Investigate and debug cross-service quality issues and drive resolution.
• Own quality from requirements to launch and production validation.
• Break work into milestones, identify dependencies, manage risks
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product, Support, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate quality decisions and project status clearly.
• Contribute to design reviews, test-automation code reviews, and planning.
• Mentor less-experienced QA engineers and provide guidance.
• Contribute to documentation and quality engineering process improvements.
• Take accountability for quality outcomes balancing delivery and customer impact.
