BlackSky is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Design in Test (SDET) in the Tukwila/Seattle area with remote flexibility. The role focuses on designing and implementing automated test frameworks, simulators, and scalable Python-based validation tools integrated into CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliability of enterprise software across distributed components.

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in software test engineering, automation, or SDET.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (or equivalent 4 years additional experience).
• Strong proficiency in Python, with reusable modules and automation frameworks.
• Experience developing automated API tests using Python Requests or equivalent.
• Experience designing automated CLI tests with maintainable code.
• Experience building Python-based utilities, simulators, or environment emulators.
• Familiarity with reporting test results and integrating automation with Jira/XRay, Slack, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of CI-based automated test pipelines, nightly execution, and test orchestration.
• Understanding of embedded Linux systems, API-driven architectures, and service interactions.
• Strong debugging skills across API, backend, and UI layers.
• US citizenship required.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and tools using Python for embedded Linux systems.
• Build Python test cases and libraries; develop tooling around device automation and visibility.
• Monitor nightly test runs, analyze failures, and provide actionable insights via Jira/X‑Ray, Slack, and CI/CD.
• Troubleshoot embedded Linux issues; work with developers to verify fixes.
• Perform targeted manual testing for new features and complex regressions where automation is not yet feasible.
• Validate functional behavior across distributed components and document test plans and defect steps.
• Support internal Python-based test applications and improve test automation patterns and standards.
• Assist in readiness of builds for deployment and release.
