Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Scrum Master/Project Manager for a contract engagement performed remotely. You will drive complex initiatives from concept through delivery, align stakeholders, and manage scope, plans, milestones, and budgets.

You will lead cross-functional teams, facilitate Agile ceremonies using Azure DevOps, mitigate risks, and communicate progress to executives and program leadership while upholding delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• 15+ years managing complex programs or projects.
• At least 5 years in Agile delivery and 5 in traditional waterfall.
• Experience in large enterprise or federal environments; executive engagement.

Job Title: Senior Scrum Master/Project Manager
Type: Contract
Work Model: Remote - offsite

Responsibilities

• Drive complex initiatives from concept through delivery by gaining a deep understanding of project scope and aligning stakeholders.
• Manage project scope, develop clear project plans, milestones, and deliverables aligned with business objectives.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of projects across cross-functional teams, ensuring completion on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, utilizing Azure DevOps to track progress.
• Coordinate activities, monitor progress, and ensure accountability to maintain focus on outcomes and business value.
• Identify, communicate, and resolve cross-organizational issues that may impede success.
• Mentor and guide team members to support effective project execution.
• Analyze project challenges, dependencies, and constraints; develop mitigation strategies and make data-informed decisions.
• Serve as the central coordination point between project teams, leadership, and stakeholders; build strong cross-functional partnerships.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and decisions clearly and facilitate productive discussions for consensus.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience managing complex projects or programs, with at least 5 years in agile and 5 years in traditional waterfall delivery.
• At least 10 years’ experience in a large enterprise or federal government environment.
• Highly experienced in leading and driving executive engagement to reach project objectives.
• Strong sense of urgency, proactively identifying risks, removing blockers, and driving decision-making.
• Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog management and work tracking.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive execution.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• PMP and CSM/SAFe Scrum Master certifications.
• Experience managing complex multi-team initiatives in fast-moving environments.
