Job summary

Sanofi Group seeks a Principal Scientist in Waltham, MA, to advance cell culture processes for genomic medicine. You will lead scale-up from bench to pilot (200L–2000L), translate lab findings into scalable manufacturing, and mentor teams while collaborating with the CMC community and downstream groups.

The role requires a strong background in bioreactor operations, perfusion processes, and process automation, with senior-level influence across the development pipeline.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with at least 6 years in large-scale bioreactors.
• PhD with at least 4 years of industry experience related to large-scale bioreactors.

Responsibilities

• Lead scale-up activities from bench to pilot (200L–2000L).
• Collaborate with process development to translate lab findings into scalable manufacturing processes.
• Review JSAs and provide feedback to equipment owners.
• Train staff on safety, efficiency, and operations.
• Foster interfaces with CMC and promote best practices.
• Lead RCA investigations for deviations at pilot scale.
• Present findings to management and external stakeholders.
