Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Scientist in Discovery Neuroscience to lead MS-based biomarker discovery and translational research for neurodegenerative diseases. The role focuses on unbiased omics (metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics) and development of quantitative LC-MS/MS assays for preclinical and translational studies.

You will work in cross-functional teams, design experiments, and ensure robust data generation and timely communication of results to internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• PhD with at least four years of postdoctoral או industry experience is required.
• Proven experience in MS-based approaches using preclinical models and human biospecimens for biomarker discovery and translational research.
• Hands-on experience with unbiased, quantitative discovery analyses using high-resolution LC-MS (DDA, DIA).
• Development and qualification of LC-MS/MS-based quantitative assays.
• Proficiency with data processing and bioinformatics tools (e.g., MetaboAnalyst, Skyline, MaxQuant, Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut).
• Experience with automated workflows for sample processing and prefractionation.
• Strong collaboration with disease biology experts and robust data generation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply MS-based assays for preclinical drug development and translational biomarkers.
• Lead discovery studies and validate targets in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Drive data analysis workflows and interpret omics data to support biomarker clinical translation.
• Train colleagues and transfer assays to internal or external groups.
• Participate in external collaborations with academia and CROs.
• Communicate complex results clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
