Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis, IN is hiring for a Sr. Scientist/Principal Scientist in Global Sample Management. You will manage daily sample operations, maintain data integrity, and drive process improvements across storage, handling, and registration.

This onsite role emphasizes collaboration with discovery teams and data systems to advance drug research. The role requires strong information management, scientific communication, and experience with LIMS platforms.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutics, Informatics, Engineering, Logistics or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of relevant laboratory or sample management or data stewardship experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work visas for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support manual and automated workflows from registration to powder handling for assay-ready plates and library formatting.
• Design and enhance workflows for sample storage and handling operations.
• Support instrument qualification, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
• Build scientific understanding of sample types and their handling requirements.
• Engage with scientific project teams to understand research context for sample requests.
• Serve as steward for inventory and data governance across GSM's LIMS platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software/hardware issues related to sample dispensing.
• Develop, test, and validate updates to software, hardware, and procedures; improve usability and efficiency.
• Perform quality checks on inbound/outbound samples and resolve deviations.
• Coordinate sample shipments with proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with informatics and IT to meet evolving data requirements.
