Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. seeks a highly skilled Senior Scientist / Assistant Director in Functional Genomics, either remote or hybrid in Carlsbad, CA. The role combines strategic research leadership with hands-on omics data analysis to advance novel therapeutics.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., strong publications, and expertise in single-cell omics, network inference, and ML, plus Linux, Python/R, and cloud familiarity. Excellent communication and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology or related field with post-PhD experience.
• Strong track record of publications and presentations.
• Experience with omics analysis, network inference, and machine learning.
• Proficiency with Python or R and Linux; AWS familiarity is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D across disease areas to analyze omics data and identify targets.
• Guide study design for omics-based experiments with input to experimental groups.
• Integrate data from transcriptome, proteome, sequencing, and other sources.
• Communicate findings to diverse scientific audiences in cross-disciplinary teams.
• Generalize and document data integration pipelines and analysis strategies.
