Job summary

Frontage Laboratories is seeking a Senior Scientist / Principal Scientist to lead formulation and process development from early development through scale-up, clinical manufacturing, and technology transfer in Exton, PA. You will mentor scientists and collaborate across PD&M, QA, Manufacturing, and Project Management.

The role requires hands-on expertise in oral solid dosage development, with additional experience in semisolid, sterile injectable, or ophthalmic products being a plus.

Qualifications

• MS with 5+ years of experience in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• PhD with 3+ years of experience in similar disciplines.
• Experience in oral solid dosage form development, including formulation optimization and scale-up.
• Strong understanding of API and excipient effects on dissolution and stability.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-formulation and formulation development activities, including API properties, excipient compatibility, and stability.
• Develop and optimize oral solid dosage forms (immediate-release and modified-release).
• Design and execute blending, granulation, milling, compression, capsule filling, and coating studies.
• Coordinate with Analytical Development on testing strategies and dissolution methods.
• Prepare and review development protocols, technical reports, and CMC documentation.
• Support clinical and registration batch manufacturing and transfer to GMP manufacturing.
• Investigate issues, perform root-cause analyses, and implement CAPAs.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide training to lab and manufacturing personnel.
• Contribute to sterile injectable or ophthalmic projects when applicable.
