Job summary

Lactalis American Group in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead the technical aspects of dairy product projects, from concept through trials, and to drive improvements in quality, yield, and process efficiency.

You will organize and implement pilot plant studies, write clear reports, collaborate with Manufacturing, QA, Marketing, and Packaging, and develop new product ideas while protecting confidential process information.

Qualifications

• Strong cheese process knowledge.
• Strong food technology knowledge (microbiology / physics / biochemistry / process).
• Strong mathematics knowledge including statistics.
• Strong communication skills to communicate with other department and technicians.
• Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical knowledge on a variety of projects to improve quality, yields, or production processes.
• Propose ideas for new product development.
• Organize pilot plant or plant trials and interpret results; write thorough reports with conclusions and recommendations.
• Work with plant and engineering on feasibility studies for new product development and improvement.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Purchasing, Packaging, Manufacturing, QA, and Legal.
