Job summary

Lactalis USA is seeking an Associate Packaging Engineer in Buffalo, NY to develop, test, and implement packaging solutions for new product launches and continuity. You will collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Plants, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing to ensure optimal packaging performance and regulatory compliance.

You will lead trials, analyze results, and drive improvements across packaging lines, while supporting sustainability goals and supplier transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science or related field preferred
• At least one year of experience in Packaging or related field
• Proficient in packaging materials and processes
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Work on cross-functional teams to develop, design, test and make packaging recommendations for new and existing products
• Develop, revise, and maintain packaging die lines, pallet configurations, and related technical documentation; may use AUTOCAD / CAPE / TOPS
• Identify, evaluate, and implement packaging and process improvements delivering cost savings while maintaining quality
• Knowledge of packaging machinery, material handling, and automation
• Lead manufacturing trials, collect data, and provide technical recommendations
• Support manufacturing sites in addressing packaging performance and supply challenges
• Source and investigate new packaging innovations; inform Marketing and plants of latest ideas
• Act as a key member of Lactalis' sustainability initiatives
• Exchange information within LAN Packaging R&D team to benefit designs
• Lead technical implementation of packaging changes with supplier transitions and transfers
• Assist in sourcing and qualifying suppliers; travel to production plants and suppliers
• Travel up to 30% to North American Lactalis sites
