Job description

Endevica Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company north of Chicago. We design novel peptide-based medicines for complex diseases where patients still have too few good options. Our team brings together deep expertise in peptide design, biology, and drug development to move promising ideas toward the clinic. There is ambitious science happening here, and there is a real sense that the work we do today could meaningfully change patients’ lives tomorrow.

We’re a very small company. This is intentional. A lean team keeps us creative, collaborative, and closely connected to the science. Everyone knows what the company is working toward, everyone has a voice, and no one is limited to a narrow corner of the job description. Work moves quickly, priorities evolve, and good ideas become real experiments without layers of decision-making. For the right person , — someone curious, open-minded, and excited to help build a biotechnology company while building its future medicines—it is a rare and rewarding place to work.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist, Computational Biology to support target validation, peptide structure-activity analysis, and translational data efforts across our discovery and development pipeline.

An ideal candidate will have extensive training in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a closely related discipline. Experience analyzing large and complex experimental datasets is required. We are particularly interested in scientists who can move fluidly between computation and biology; identifying meaningful patterns, generating testable hypotheses, connecting data to molecular mechanisms, and using quantitative approaches to help guide the next experiment. Experience with protein, peptide, pharmacology, structural biology, omics, or drug-discovery datasets is highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute analysis of large, multi-dimensional experimental datasets (e.g., high-throughput screening, omics, or structural datasets), identifying appropriate analytical approaches and troubleshooting data quality issues as they arise.
  • Mine and integrate public and proprietary genomic, transcriptomic, and structural databases to identify, prioritize, and characterize novel targets or biomarkers.
  • Develop and maintain computational pipelines for peptide sequence analysis and structure activity relationship modeling in collaboration with medicinal chemistry.
  • Support lead optimization efforts by providing sequence and structure-based analysis of peptide analogs, complementing existing cheminformatics workflows (RDKit, Spotfire).
  • Build internal dashboards and reporting tools to visualize complex biological datasets for cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Ensure computational workflows are reproducible, well-documented, and version-controlled, following best practices for data integrity.
  • Evaluate and recommend new computational methods, tools, and databases relevant to peptide therapeutics and receptor pharmacology as the field evolves.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Discovery, Development, and Clinical teams to align computational analyses with scientific milestones.
Job Requirements
  • MS or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, chemistry, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering or a closely related discipline – or an equivalent amount of industry or research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing large, complex experimental datasets, with the ability to identify appropriate analytical methods and troubleshoot data quality issues
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Python (Biopython, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and R for biological data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with protein/peptide structural analysis and modeling tools, preferred (e.g., AlphaFold, PyMol, Rosetta, or equivalent structure prediction and visualization software).
  • Familiarity with workflow/pipeline management frameworks for reproducible computational analysis.
  • Experience querying and integrating public biological databases (UniProt, PDB, ChEMBL, PubChem) into research workflows.
  • Proficiency with version control (Git) and containerization (Docker) to support reproducible, collaborative research.
  • Ability to communicate complex computational findings clearly to cross-functional teams including chemistry, pharmacology and executive stakeholders..
  • Record of scientific contribution demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or equivalent research output.
