Job summary

Vividion Therapeutics, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Principal Scientist, Chemical Development to lead robust synthetic processes and deliver non-GMP & GMP material at multi-kilogram scale. This role advances compounds from preclinical development to proof-of-concept, ensuring supply for preclinical and clinical needs.

The position requires leadership of external scientists, collaboration with CDMOs, and cross-functional teamwork with QA, Analytical Development, and Medicinal Chemistry. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 6+ years of experience in related small molecule development.
• BS/MS with 10+ years in organic chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences.
• Knowledge of ICH guidelines and current cGMPs.
• Ability to manage multiple development projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong track record in process chemistry development and CDMO management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with scale-up to multi-kilogram quantities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of external scientists for route scalability assessment and optimization.
• Collaborate with CDMO partners to manage API manufacturing and knowledge transfer.
• Represent Drug Substance Development on core teams and regulatory subteams.
• Design phase-appropriate synthetic routes and regulatory starting materials strategies.
• Oversee tech transfers and support external manufacturing activities.
• Coordinate timelines and budget updates for Drug Substance Development.
• Prepare and review CMC sections for regulatory filings.
• Ensure QA collaboration for external manufacture and release of GMP drug substance.
