Job summary

Saturnus Bio is seeking a senior scientist to lead cardiomyopathy drug discovery programs. The role involves designing and interpreting pharmacology studies, using patient-derived iPSCs and engineered cardiac tissues to probe target engagement and mechanism of action.

The candidate will provide deep biology expertise, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior scientists to advance projects from discovery toward candidate selection.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 5–10+ years in biotech/pharma drug discovery.
• Demonstrated deep expertise in genetic cardiomyopathies and heart failure.
• Ability to master new molecular and cellular biology techniques quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret studies to evaluate pharmacology for cardiomyopathy drug programs.
• Apply patient-derived iPSC models and engineered 3D cardiac tissues to assess target engagement.
• Provide deep biology expertise for target validation and translational biomarker development.
• Collaborate with chemistry, in vitro pharmacology, bioinformatics, and translational teams to advance oligonucleotide therapeutics.
• Maintain active laboratory presence, lead key experiments, and provide technical leadership.
• Communicate strategy and progress to leadership, external collaborators, and advisors.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a collaborative research environment.

Education

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, or related discipline
