Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine in Richmond seeks a Senior Staff Scientist to lead advanced cancer immunology research in the Microbiology and Immunology department. The role focuses on high‑dimensional immune profiling, tumor biology, and translational studies under the PI.

You will oversee experimental work, mentor students, and collaborate with Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center clinicians to publish findings and contribute to NIH grants.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD/MD-PhD in life sciences with 5–10 years wet-bench immunology experience.
• Expertise in multiparameter flow cytometry and in vivo murine tumor models.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to mentor students and staff.
• Experience with clinical specimens and cancer biology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced immunology experiments and development of assays.
• Analyze data and prepare figures for publications and grants.
• Oversee lab operations, training, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with Massey Cancer Center physician-scientists.
• Maintain meticulous records and contribute to grant applications.
