Job summary

MSD in Rahway, NJ is seeking a Senior Scientist, Engineering for the Chemical Commercialization Technology department to develop safe and robust small‑molecule manufacturing processes, perform technology transfer, validation, and supply support for late‑stage projects in the portfolio.

Qualifications

PhD required; 3 years of experience in chemical/pharmaceutical process development.
Experience in microbial fermentation and downstream process development and optimization.
Experience with process scale‑up/scale‑down and technology transfer.
Ability to mentor staff and work in cross‑functional teams.
Familiarity with cGMPs, GDPs, and regulatory filings.

Responsibilities

Develop safe, robust manufacturing processes for late‑stage small molecule projects.
Optimize enzyme manufacturing process control across scales.
Mentor junior staff and enhance lab capabilities.
Support technology transfer to commercial manufacturing.
Apply Quality Risk Management and DOE concepts.
Conduct hands‑on experiments at bench and kilo lab scales.
Ensure safety and quality compliance per cGMP and GDP.
