Job summary

Evotec in Princeton, NJ is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead biofermentation and protein expression activities within the Reagents team. The role focuses on fed-batch fermentation in 5–30 L BioFlo bioreactors, protein purification, and scaling processes to support pharmaceutical research.

You will work cross-functionally with Bioengineering, Expression and Purification groups, driving innovation and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Biological Sciences, Biological Engineering, or related field; MS with 5+ years experience acceptable.
• Experience expressing diverse protein types in prokaryotic hosts.
• Biofermentation process design, development, and optimization experience.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams by conducting experiments per objectives and timelines.
• Develop, optimize, and scale up fermentation processes.
• Troubleshoot fermentation performance issues and implement improvements.
• Design experimental routes and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare reports, present data, and collaborate with internal/external partners.
• Present work at project- and department-level meetings.
• Mentor junior colleagues on execution and design.
• Ensure safe laboratory practices and compliant documentation.
