The Aguirre laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School studies the genetics and biology of pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest human cancer types. We utilize variety of molecular biology and genomic approaches to understand GI cancer with three major focus areas: 1) Discovery and validation of the new therapeutic targets in pancreatic cancer; 2) Investigating RAS biology and targeting in pancreatic cancer; and 3) Understanding the genetic and phenotypic subtypes of pancreatic cancer using single cell genomic and transcriptomic analysis of tumor biopsies and patient-derived organoid models. Research in the laboratory ranges from basic mechanistic investigation of cancer gene function or novel small molecule therapeutics to highly translational genomic and functional studies of patient-derived tissues from clinical trials. The Aguirre lab works collaboratively within the Dana-Farber Hale Center for Pancreatic Research, the DFCI Lustgarten Foundation Dedicated Research Lab, the DFCI Center for RAS Therapeutics, and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Team members include laboratory investigators, clinical investigators and computational biologists at both Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute.
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative research scientist with expertise in cancer biology and experimental therapeutics evaluation in human patient-derived models, including organoid cultures and PDX models. The successful candidate will also have experience in managing academic-industry collaborations. This individual will coordinate and manage laboratory efforts on both mechanistic studies and collaborative projects. The candidate will work closely with a team of technicians, students, and post-docs to plan experiments as well as to analyze, present and publish research findings.
