**The Opportunity**

The Senior Scientist will interface directly with materials suppliers as a technical liaison, and will conduct non-routine analytical tests in the lab on sensor materials and sensor models, for use in biosensor design, development, and troubleshooting. This position is based out of our Alameda, CA location and will require being onsite Monday-Friday.

**What You'll Work On**

+ Facilitate contracts and regular online meetings with material suppliers.

+ Write batch records for chemical production processes.

+ Assist in scale-up and troubleshooting for custom materials manufacturing.

+ Serve as departmental and technical representative for purchase of custom materials.

+ Conduct analytical experiments to test new and existing biosensor concepts and the materials used in their construction, encompassing small molecules, organometallics, traditional polymers, and biologics. This will entail running analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, UV, GPC, viscometer, cyclic voltammeter, and interpreting results from these and other techniques such as NMR, MS, elemental.

+ Access the chemical, biological, and engineering literature to provide insights to technical issues.

+ Organize and process large amounts of raw data from experiments into tables and graphs for systematic review and evaluation to identify trends and establish relationships.

+ Present experimental results in group meetings.

+ Maintain lab equipment, QA records, and purchasing documentation.

**Required Qualifications**

+ BS, MS, or PhD in chemical engineering, or chemistry, with 5+ years post-baccalaureate experience.

+ Expertise in process chemistry/process engineering, organic chemistry/synthesis, polymer chemistry strongly preferred. Skills in analytical chemistry, test method development, and familiarity with organometallics, biologics, also desirable.
