Job description

Natera is seeking an experienced Sr Translational Med Scientist with expertise in cancer genomics for an exciting remote opportunity. The Sr Translational Med Scientist is passionate about using genomic data to advance healthcare. Responsibilities include initiating, directing, and executing pre-clinical scientific research and development strategies for the oncology and early cancer detection business units. The role involves planning and executing clinical research and data analysis, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Perform genomic and clinical analyses to explore biological, scientific, and clinical questions in oncology and early cancer detection.
  2. Collaborate with molecular biologists, computational biologists, and statisticians to develop research strategies addressing challenging problems.
  3. Engage with external partners, including academic institutions, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies.
  4. Communicate research findings to academic researchers and collaborate on publishing in high-impact journals.
  5. Work with clinicians, product managers, and key opinion leaders to translate product requirements into technical specifications.
  6. Understand the research landscape and technological options by collaborating with biological and business teams.
  7. This role involves regular access to PHI and requires completing HIPAA/PHI privacy, policies, and security training within 30 days of hire.
  8. Maintain current status on Natera training requirements and pass post-offer criminal background checks.
  9. The official job title will depend on skills and experience.
Qualifications:
  1. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Oncology, Genetics, or a related field.
  2. At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Strong understanding of cancer biology and clinical oncology.
  4. Knowledge of molecular genomics and clinical perspectives of cancer.
  5. Experience with genomics sequencing analysis techniques.
  6. Proficiency in data mining and statistical analysis tools, especially R (ggplot2, data.table, Bioconductor).
  7. Ability to write and utilize SQL queries.
  8. Familiarity with novel technologies and the competitive landscape.
  9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage priorities proactively.
  10. Exceptional attention to detail and quality of work.
  11. Proven success in managing projects collaboratively and independently.
  12. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:

The pay range is listed and actual packages depend on factors like experience, skills, certifications, and location. The estimated range for remote USA is $106,200—$132,700 USD.
