Motion Recruitment is seeking a Senior Scientific Data Engineer to join a fully remote team focused on transforming scientific and laboratory data into scalable, production-ready data products. The role emphasizes data engineering, life sciences collaboration, and AI-enabled solutions, with MA remote eligibility.

The position requires 8+ years of experience, strong Python/SQL skills, and a track record of delivering data pipelines and models in cross-functional settings.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building data products as a Data Engineer or related technical role.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
• Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data models.
• Proven experience leading projects, managing requirements, and driving delivery timelines.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams in customer-focused environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scientific data engineering solutions.
• Partner with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and technical stakeholders to define business and data requirements.
• Build scalable data models, integration frameworks, and data processing pipelines.
• Develop reusable Python libraries, schema components, and parsing frameworks.
• Create high-quality data pipelines with comprehensive testing and validation practices.
• Build data applications, dashboards, and reporting tools for scientific and business users.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and production readiness across all deliverables.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering quality and developer productivity.
• Support Agile delivery processes and help teams successfully meet sprint commitments.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
• Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, project managers, and machine learning teams to deliver impactful solutions.
• Work directly with customers and stakeholders to validate business value and successful outcomes
