Job summary

Eurofins Scientific is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure for ML model training and deployment. The role involves working with chemists and ML engineers to process complex chromatogram data and support predictive analytics.

The ideal candidate has strong Python data engineering skills, cloud and orchestration experience, and familiarity with analytical chemistry concepts such as chromatography.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Expert-level proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, and data engineering libraries).
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred) including ADLS/Compute VMs/Functions.
• Experience building data workflows with Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Strong SQL skills; experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
• Git and standard DevOps practices.
• Experience handling large-volume scientific data (e.g., chromatography, mass spectrometry).
• Familiarity with MLOps platforms (Azure ML Studio, MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker).
• Basic understanding of analytical chemistry concepts such as chromatography fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for chemical data.
• Develop data models and manage data warehouse/lake for ML feature engineering.
• Collaborate with MLE to containerize and deploy ML models and automate retraining.
• Implement data quality checks and governance for reproducible chemical data.
• Develop internal tools and APIs for data access by ML and chemistry systems.
