Job summary

MasTec Power Delivery is seeking a Senior Project Scheduler to develop and maintain schedules for major transmission line and substation projects. The role emphasizes Primavera P6, CPM, earned value, and critical path analysis to support project profitability and client satisfaction.

The successful candidate will generate baselines, load resources and costs, validate network logic, and provide regular progress and performance reports to project teams, including management and field staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in Primavera P6 and CPM methodology for building and maintaining construction schedules.
  • Knowledge of PMI, Primavera P6, and AACE best practices for Scheduling.
  • Proven ability with creating reports by relating and extracting data from a variety of software platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience using P6 with Tilos software is desirable.
  • Problem solving, time management and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Baseline Creation and Maintenance: Generate and update project baseline schedules using Primavera P6 and Critical Path Methodology.
  • Cost and Resource Loading: Ensure all schedules include resource and cost data.
  • Network Logic Analysis and Validation: Perform ongoing analysis and validation of network logic to ensure it aligns with project team intent and standard guidelines.
  • Periodic Progress Updates: Conduct weekly and monthly updates for schedules in progress by gathering necessary data from various resources.
  • Performance Reporting: Generate weekly/monthly project performance reports, including Critical Activities Reports, Baseline Deviation Reports, Earned Value Performance Index Reports, and a monthly Schedule Narrative.
  • Perform CPI/SPI calculations using earned value principles.
  • Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules

Salary range: $130-150,000 per year
Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Scheduler to support our growing Power Delivery Segment. The Senior Project Scheduler will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules and various baselines, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and ongoing analysis of network logic. This role requires resource/cost loading for all project schedules. Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend workarounds. Suggest mitigation of risks affecting project profit, costs, schedules, and client relations. Utilizing Primavera P6 software, the Planner/Scheduler will also be responsible for communicating and advising the project team on corrective actions when necessary. Additional responsibilities are as follows:

  • Schedule Baseline Creation and Maintenance: Generate and update project baseline schedules using Primavera P6 and Critical Path Methodology. Maintain additional baselines as the project moves forward.
  • Cost and Resource Loading: Ensure all schedules include resource and cost data.
  • Network Logic Analysis and Validation: Perform ongoing analysis and validation of network logic to ensure it aligns with project team intent and standard guidelines. Remove unnecessary dependencies that could affect total float calculations and project criticality.
  • Periodic Progress Updates: Conduct weekly and monthly updates for schedules in progress by gathering necessary data from various resources, such as Project Managers, Superintendents, financial controller, EVM analyst and other members of the project team.
  • Performance Reporting: Generate weekly/monthly project performance reports, including Critical Activities Reports, Baseline Deviation Reports, Earned Value Performance Index Reports, and Commodity Curves. Reporting includes writing a monthly Schedule Narrative.
  • Perform CPI/SPI calculations using earned value principles.
  • Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules
Skills & Abilities
  • Must be proficient in use of Primavera P6 and CPM methodology for building and maintaining construction schedules.

Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience:
  • 8-10 years’ experience in scheduling construction projects
  • BS degree with an emphasis in Engineering or Construction Management - or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working on large overhead transmission line and substation projects is a preference. At least, experience in other Mega linear construction at a minimum.
  • Extensive engineering and construction experience, preferably with respect to substation and transmission construction (A preference, but not required)
