Job summary

American Water is seeking a Sr Automation & Controls Engineer (SCADA) in Indiana. You will implement, maintain and support the automation and process control infrastructure, providing expert programming and configuration for SCADA systems and collaborating with design engineers and operations to deliver projects.

You will develop standards, manage system integration partners, and perform QA checks to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair and installation of Process Control Systems (SCADA and DCS).
• Experience with data communications systems, protocols, wired and wireless network systems, and cellular and radio telemetry.
• Four-year degree or equivalent experience and/or certifications.
• Ability to configure PLCs/RTUs, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and support automation and SCADA/process control infrastructure.
• Develop and apply programming/configuration for automation systems.
• Provide second-level support and on-site/off-hours assistance as needed.
• Manage automation projects from conception to start-up within schedule and budget.
• Coordinate with system integrators and operations to resolve issues and optimize systems.
• Develop standards, practices, and policies for installation and operations.
• Review vendor specs and report findings with recommendations.
• Provide training and technical instruction to operations staff.
