Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead control systems for high-rate production at Arsenal-1 in Columbus, OH. You will own the SCADA layer from PLC integration through Ignition applications, ensuring robust, safe automation across production lines.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 4+ years of controls experience, and deep Siemens PLC expertise. Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams on the factory floor and a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of controls/automation experience in a production environment.
  • Expert in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text).
  • Proficient with servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS.
  • Strong knowledge of ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment.
  • Architect, write, and debug Siemens PLC code for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Generate and enforce internal standards for control systems architecture, compliance, and safety buyoffs.
  • Integrate FactoryOS software into automation equipment and lines.
  • Build and maintain SCADA applications in Ignition (Perspective, tag architecture, historian).
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures.
  • Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with production stakeholders and work on the production floor.

About The Team

Anduril’s Automation team is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. The Automation team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production at Arsenal-1, our advanced manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. In this role, you will own the SCADA layer that production depends on, from PLC integration through Ignition applications and plant floor visibility.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment
  • Architect, write, and debug Siemens PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high‑volume manufacturing applications
  • Generate and enforce internal standards for control systems architecture, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs
  • Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines
  • Build and maintain SCADA applications in Ignition, including tag architecture, Perspective screens, alarming, and historian configuration
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long‑term reliability
  • Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, which requires regular interaction with production and manufacturing stakeholders and frequently working directly on the production floor
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Expert in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)
  • Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP.)
  • Proficient with electrical component selection and a solid foundation of wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
  • Experience developing SCADA applications in Ignition (Perspective, tag architecture, and historian)
  • Experience with performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design
  • Proficient with pneumatic concepts and design
  • Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices
  • U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to contractual obligations
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
  • Electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC.
  • TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)
  • Active U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance

US Salary Range

$126,000—$167,000 USD
