Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, commission, and upgrade control systems for high-rate manufacturing equipment at Arsenal-1 in Columbus, OH. You will write Siemens PLC code, tune servo drives, and integrate FactoryOS software with production lines.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in a related engineering field, 2+ years in controls, and experience with electrical cabinet design, PROFIBUS/Ethernet protocols, SCADA (Ignition) and risk-based safety design. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years in controls and automation in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text).
  • Experience with servo drives, VFDs, PID tuning, and safety design.
  • Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices and control cabinets.

Responsibilities

  • Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment.
  • Write and debug Siemens PLC code aimed at high-volume manufacturing.
  • Follow internal standards for control architectures, compliance, and safety Buyoffs.
  • Integrate FactoryOS software into automation equipment and lines.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures.
  • Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime and drive improvements.

Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Automation

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Automation team is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team. The Automation team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production at Arsenal-1, our advanced manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. In this role, you will design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment
  • Write and debug Siemens PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing applications
  • Follow internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs
  • Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliability
  • Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Proficient in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)
  • Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP.)
  • Proficient with electrical component selection and a solid foundation of wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
  • Experience integrating with SCADA and OT Networking
  • Experience with performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design
  • Proficient with pneumatic concepts and design
  • Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices
  • Active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
  • Electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC.
  • Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, including Perspective and tag historian configuration
  • Active U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance

US Salary Range

$111,000 - $147,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
