Job summary

Anduril Industries seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to join the Automation team in Columbus, OH, overseeing control system design, commissioning, and upgrades for advanced production equipment at Arsenal-1.

You will develop Siemens PLC code, enforce standards, and integrate FactoryOS with automation lines while leading root-cause analyses and cross-functional collaboration on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years of controls and automation experience in production.
  • Siemens PLC programming, Ladder and Structured Text, is a must.
  • Servo drive and VFD configuration with PID tuning and safety features.
  • Strong knowledge of ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet/IP communication.
  • Electrical component selection, wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
  • Experience integrating with SCADA and OT networking.
  • Experience with Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design.

  • Interact with production and manufacturing stakeholders on the shop floor.

About The Team

Anduril's Automation team is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. The Automation team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production at Arsenal-1, our advanced manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH. In this role, you will design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment.

What You'll Do
  • Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for production equipment
  • Architect, write, and debug Siemens PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing applications
  • Generate and enforce internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffs
  • Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliability
  • Install, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, which requires regular interaction with production and manufacturing stakeholders and frequently working directly on the production floor
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Expert in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)
  • Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP.)
  • Proficient with electrical component selection and a solid foundation of wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
  • Experience integrating with SCADA and OT Networking
  • Experience with performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety Design
  • Proficient with pneumatic concepts and design
  • Familiar with NFPA70e electrical safety practices
  • U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to contractual obligations
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
  • Electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC.
  • Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, including Perspective and tag historian configuration
  • TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)
  • Active U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance
US Salary Range

$126,000-$167,000 USD
