Job summary

KGS LLC seeks a Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer to assess Leo satellite capabilities for government use cases. You will model coverage, latency, and availability, develop reference missions, CONOPS, and performance analyses for contract work.

Required 8+ years in satellite/system design, strong orbital mechanics, and proficiency in MATLAB/C++/Python. Expect to extend simulation tools and present technical content to government customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent field.
• 8+ years of experience in satellite or network system design, modeling, and analysis.
• Strong understanding of orbital mechanics and constellation geometry.
• 8+ years of coding experience in MATLAB, C, C++, or Python with industry-standard practices.
• Working knowledge of RF or optical link budgets and their impact on capacity and availability.
• Experience with resource scheduling or optimization for communications or satellite systems.

Responsibilities

• Own system-level modeling, simulation, and analysis for government mission scenarios and constellation designs.
• Translate objectives into scenarios and measures of effectiveness; develop reference missions and CONOPS.
• Apply orbital mechanics to model coverage, access, and contact analyses.
• Design and evaluate resource scheduling and allocation approaches under power, thermal, and spectrum constraints.
• Extend existing simulation tools (MATLAB, C++, Python) for time-varying capacity, latency, and availability analyses.
• Prepare technical content for government customers and program reviews.
