Job summary

Amazon Leo is a low Earth orbit satellite constellation delivering high-speed, low-latency broadband for government objectives. As a Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer, you will assess Leo's performance against government use cases and produce analyses for contracts.

You will apply orbital mechanics, develop CONOPS, and extend simulation tools (MATLAB, C++, Python) to support end-to-end analyses and technical briefings for customers and reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent engineering field.
• 8+ years in satellite or network system design, modeling, and analysis.
• Strong understanding of orbital mechanics and constellation geometry.
• 8+ years coding in MATLAB, C, C++, or Python with good practices.
• Working knowledge of RF/optical link budgets and their impact on capacity.
• Experience with resource scheduling/optimization for communications systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication for customer briefings.

Responsibilities

• Own system-level modeling, simulation, and analysis for government missions.
• Perform mission engineering, CONOPS, and design reference missions.
• Apply orbital mechanics and constellation geometry for analyses.
• Design and evaluate resource scheduling and beam assignment under constraints.
• Evaluate RF/optical trades to optimize performance vs cost.
• Build/link budgets and model time-varying capacity and latency.
• Model inter-satellite geometry, handover, and contact scheduling.
• Extend simulation code in MATLAB/C++/Python for a dynamic topology.
• Prepare technical content for government customers and program reviews.
• Account for self-interference and interference with other systems.
