Job summary

Portal Space Systems in Bothell, WA seeks a Senior Satellite Bus Structures Designer to own the bus structure from architecture through flight support. You will define load paths, interfaces, and packaging while maintaining the top-level digital satellite definition.

You will collaborate closely with structural/thermal analysis, avionics, propulsion, and manufacturing teams, owning CAD models, EBOM, and GD&T. The role demands rapid technical decisions and hands-on hardware work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing spacecraft structures or similar high‑reliability hardware.
• Ownership of hardware from concept through design, manufacturing and test.
• Strong CAD experience with large assemblies and released drawings.
• Knowledge of launch space environments: static loads, vibration, vacuum, thermal cycling.

Responsibilities

• Own satellite bus structural design across lifecycle from concept to flight support.
• Define primary/secondary structures and load paths, panels, frames, mounts, interfaces.
• Own spacecraft physical architecture, packaging, and subsystems placement.
