Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Lead SATCOM Payload Engineer to steer payload engineering within an integrated office supporting the U.S. Space Force. You will lead a seasoned team, interface with Space Force leadership and Aerospace management, and ensure alignment of acquisition strategies with mission requirements.

This on-site role at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA requires a Top Secret/SBI clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or related STEM field.
• 12+ years in professional engineering/scientific roles on government programs.
• Demonstrated space systems engineering and ability to present to customers.
• Experience with satellite communication hardware or waveform processing.
• Proven leadership of cross-organizational technical efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead payload engineering team across multiple subsystems.
• Advise Space Force leadership and manage customer relationships.
• Develop technical position papers, design assessments, and briefings.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure alignment with program goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with ETG and other teams.
