Job summary

Select Search Associates LLC is seeking a Lead SAR Data Scientist/Imagery Scientist in Arlington, VA to lead SAR data acquisition, processing, and exploitation to meet government mission requirements. You will guide image formation, phenomenology, and sensor performance analyses, and collaborate with data scientists to optimize analytics.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with poly eligibility, 6+ years of SAR/imagery experience, and strong Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI poly eligibility; sponsorship available.
• 6+ years as SAR exploitation or imagery expert with knowledge of radar phenomenology, image formation, and SAR concepts.
• Experience using SARPy and the MATLAB SAR Toolbox.
• Knowledge of SAR image quality metrics (RNIIRS, information-theoretic metrics, ISLR, MNR).
• Ability to interpret sensor metadata and collection geometry impacts on SAR imagery.
• Experience developing, testing, and evaluating SAR processing algorithms.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for stakeholder presentations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging SAR sensor capabilities and compare with current platforms.
• Assess data architectures, metadata and formats, ETL requirements for new sensor data.
• Determine data acquisition strategies and collection latency for new sources.
• Design preprocessing workflows to standardize imagery for labeling and analytics.
• Identify capability gaps for emerging sensors and recommend additional data sources.
• Assess opportunities for multi-source and coincident SAR collections.
• Provide leadership on SAR phenomenology, exploitation methods, and sensor performance.
