Job summary

Thorben Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced SAP Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design, implement, and harden access controls for SAP S/4HANA SLcM in a U.S. government Higher Education client environment.

You will collaborate with SLcM consultants, developers, and government stakeholders to ensure compliance with FERPA and data privacy protections while enabling secure student lifecycle processes. This role is remote with potential on-site engagements in Northern Virginia.

Qualifications

• US citizen or ability to obtain secret clearance.
• 5–10 years of SAP Security experience including role design and user access administration.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA 2023 or later security configurations.
• Experience with SAP Embedded GRC and role management, including access risk analysis.
• Strong SoD analysis and remediation across functional and technical roles.
• Proficiency building and maintaining roles via PFCG and authorization objects.
• Experience securing Fiori catalogs, groups, and launchpad access.

Responsibilities

• Design complex SLcM authorizations for student records, admissions, and program management.
• Enforce data protection controls, data blocking, and pseudonymization for sensitive data.
• Integrate S/4HANA security with SAP Cloud Identity Services or IDPs for portals.
• Configure and secure Fiori catalogs and groups for self-service and grading workflows.
• Build least-privilege roles using PFCG and IAM concepts.
• Monitor for unauthorized or sensitive queries on confidential student files.
• Manage SoD risk across academic and financial student data crossovers.
• Configure embedded GRC for access risk analysis and continuous SoD monitoring.
