Richland County is seeking a Sanitary Engineer to oversee all engineering processes for the Utilities Department, coordinating design and construction of utility systems and ensuring contract compliance. The role reports to the Deputy Director and interacts with multiple agencies and the public.

The ideal candidate will hold a BS in Civil Engineering with 4–6 years of experience, possess a SC driver’s license, and work toward Fundamental Engineering registration within a year.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with 4-6 years of experience.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license to operate a County vehicle.
• Required to obtain Fundamental Engineering registration in the state of South Carolina within one year of hire. Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
• The incumbent must have or be able to attain a Class C wastewater treatment plant operator’s license within one year of employment.

Aufgaben

• Assist in preparation and administration of an operational budget.
• Coordinate and review design and construction of utility systems to be constructed by private developers and inspect project work sites for compliance with contract specifications.
• Administer the DHEC Delegated Review Program for Richland County to ensure obligations are met.
• Supervise the operation of all county-owned water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Monitor contract personnel and review invoices to ensure cost effectiveness.
• Participate in the Department’s on-call system for after-hours and weekend operations.
• Prepare documents including letters, drawings, maps, estimates, reports, agreements, and project status documents for county officials.
• Coordinate repairs of county-owned utilities with cost efficiency in mind.
