Job summary

Richland County is seeking an experienced engineer supervisor to oversee engineering activities and plant operations within the county utilities system. The role ensures compliance with regulations, reviews staff work, and manages projects, coordinating with agencies and preparing reports.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree plus four years of relevant experience; Professional Engineer registration in South Carolina is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional Engineer registration in the state of South Carolina is preferred.
• Four years of relevant professional, technical or vocational experience.
• Valid state driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, supervises and inspects engineering activities and plant operations for compliance with regulations, codes and specs.
• Supervises assigned staff, including planning, reviewing work, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Administers and reviews utility construction projects, inspections, change orders, and records maintenance.
• Coordinates with local, state and federal agencies and contractors on projects and approvals.
• Represents the department in meetings and prepares reports and recommendations.
