Job summary

Dept of State Health Services seeks a Sanitarian III to serve as a technical training expert for the Manufactured and Retail Food Unit. You will develop training materials, lead field inspections, and present training to staff and stakeholders.

Under supervision, you will maintain records, coordinate curriculums, deliver in-person and remote trainings, and support standardization efforts. The role may require overnight travel and be on call as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a Professional Sanitarian in Texas.
• At least 3 years of combined experience in manufactured/retail food inspections.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel within-state and out-of-state as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electronic records and a statewide database of standardized training.
• Conduct joint field inspections, auditing inspectors, and monitor report quality.
• Develop field manuals, presentations, and training materials.
• Deliver in-person and remote trainings; prepare course materials.
• Assist with standards, branch goals, and complex inspections.
• Support disaster response and COOP activation when required.
