Andersen seeks a Senior Manager in its State & Local Tax (SALT) practice in Seattle to lead multi-state income and franchise tax engagements. You will provide strategic tax planning, oversee compliance, and advise on apportionment, nexus, and related state issues for a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• 6+ years relevant work experience in an accounting firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related field.
• CPA or JD required for IRS representation.
• Self-starter with the initiative to seek opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient use of technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage state income and franchise tax engagements, including compliance oversight, tax provision support, audits, and controversy matters.
• Analyze multi-state tax issues such as apportionment, allocation, combined reporting, and nexus determinations.
• Review and advise on state tax positions, including filing methodologies, credit utilization, and restructuring opportunities.
• Provide strategic guidance on the state tax impact of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and business expansions.
• Monitor state legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on client tax positions.
• Engage in business development activities (proposals, webinars, cross-service collaboration).
• Research complex state tax issues and prepare memoranda, opinions, and planning recommendations.
• Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure high-quality service and proactive tax planning.
• Identify opportunities to minimize state income/franchise tax liabilities and enhance compliance processes.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate Seniors and Associates.
