WGU is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Salesforce) to lead the evolution of its Salesforce ecosystem, powering student experience, enrollment, and operations. You will mentor engineers and collaborate with architects to translate platform decisions into scalable solutions.

With 10+ years in software engineering and deep Salesforce expertise, you will shape security posture, integration strategies, and governance across teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with Salesforce core engineering— or equivalent depth in another enterprise stack with ramping onto Salesforce.
• Mastery of async Apex / event-driven patterns at a governance level across teams.
• Experience designing multi-system integration architecture — API strategy and event-driven decisions.
• Track record of setting technical standards adopted beyond your own team.
• Deep understanding of security architecture and compliance frameworks in regulated environments (FERPA).
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and shape technical direction through influence.
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Split time between hands-on engineering/mentoring and serving as the Salesforce architects' implementation partner, turning architecture decisions into working solutions.
• Set automation, integration, security, and DevOps standards across multiple teams.
• Own org-wide security posture and compliance-framework decisions for the platform." FERPA-aware design.
• Govern enterprise data model decisions and cross-system data contracts.
• Lead architectural reviews and platform health assessments and remediation planning.
• Mentor SE I/II/Senior engineers and influence technical direction.
