About the Role

This role is a senior-level Salesforce engineering position on a team that handles integrations with Java applications. This includes consuming from Kafka or RabbitMQ and integrating with Salesforce via REST APIs.

In addition to Salesforce work, the role involves occasional support and development of Java-based microservices. The environment values DevOps maturity, collaboration, and technical leadership, with engineers expected to contribute to code design, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipeline enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Build differentiated experiences on the Salesforce platform using:
• Apex
• Flows
• REST APIs
• Change Data Capture (CDC)
• Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) for both unpackaged and packaged Salesforce code.
• Collaborate closely with team members during story grooming, development, and daily standups.
• Participate in discussions on architecture, design, best practices, and DevOps strategies.
• Support simple Java applications that interface with messaging tools (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and data sources.
• Help define standards and guide the team through ambiguous or exploratory phases.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of Salesforce engineering experience, with deep expertise in Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Financial Services Cloud.
• Proven internal Salesforce development experience (as opposed to external implementations).
• Strong understanding of DevOps concepts, including branching strategies, managed packages, CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub pipelines).
• Proficiency in:
• Apex
• LWC
• Java (basic to intermediate)
• Jest or similar automated testing frameworks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in an agile, product-oriented environment.
• Experience with data integration via APIs, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Self-motivated and collaborative - able to work both independently and as part of a tight-knit engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the financial services industry
• Familiarity with Selenium, Playwright, or other test automation frameworks.
• Experience contributing to product teams or working under product-oriented delivery models.
• Background in designing scalable, maintainable solutions with cross-team dependencies.
• Demonstrated success in ambiguous startup-like environments, where the team is still maturing processes and structure.
