Job summary

Gusto is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and maintain Salesforce Apex solutions powering our Sales and CX platforms. You’ll work on scalable, production-ready systems in a fast-moving environment.

You will harness AI coding assistants to write, review, and document code, participate in release management, and contribute to cross-functional projects as needed. This role offers exposure to large-scale platforms and a path toward architectural leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering, 4+ on Salesforce Apex.
• Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or Application Architect certifications.
• Strong Salesforce architecture knowledge and release-management practices.
• Fluent use of AI coding assistants across the development lifecycle.
• Comfort with codebases outside Salesforce (Ruby on Rails a plus).
• Proven track record building scalable production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Apex solutions on Salesforce that support Sales and CX teams.
• Use AI coding assistants throughout the development lifecycle to write, review, debug, and document code.
• Oversee ongoing improvements to deployed features and measure their impact.
• Apply Salesforce platform architecture and change/release management best practices.
• Write well-structured, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Build, test, and debug reliable production systems at scale, ideally real-time or high-throughput.
• Contribute to codebases beyond Salesforce when the work calls for it.
