Job summary

Machinists Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Sales Estimator who understands manufacturing processes and can collaborate with customers to develop practical machining and fabrication solutions.

You will evaluate opportunities, develop cost estimates, and link customer needs with engineering and production capabilities. This full-time role requires strong communication, gear and gearbox knowledge, GD&T, and the ability to quote high-tolerance projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in precision machining, fabrication, welding, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of gears, gearboxes, and geared systems is highly desirable.
• Experience estimating and quoting precision-machined components, fabricated assemblies, tooling, or high-tolerance manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for machining, fabrication, tooling, assemblies, and custom manufacturing projects.
• Establish production plans, manufacturing methods, and costing strategies to support customer requirements.
• Collaborate with customers to understand project specifications and recommend manufacturing solutions.
• Coordinate prototype development and production requirements with both new and existing customers.
• Support gear and gearbox projects in partnership with our gear manufacturing division.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer documentation to determine manufacturing requirements and project feasibility.
• Utilize CAD/CAM software and manufacturing resources to develop accurate pricing and lead-time estimates.
• Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure project success.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities for business growth.
• Contribute innovative ideas and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
