HRforGrowth is facilitating a Manufacturing Engineer – Project Estimator search for a client in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on turning blueprints and CAD models into actionable process plans for CNC milling, turning, and inspection, while building accurate cost projections.

The ideal candidate combines shop-floor experience with strong analytical skills to improve quoting efficiency and manufacturability across precision components.

Qualifications

• Requires mechanical engineering degree with hands-on manufacturing exposure.
• Experience in precision machining or custom manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks and GD&T interpretation.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and CNC setup.
• Ability to develop accurate cost and labor estimates.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Develop process plans for CNC milling, turning, grinding, and inspection.
• Calculate setup and machining cycle times for milling/turning.
• Estimate labor, materials, tooling, and production costs.
• Evaluate outside processing like heat treating and coatings.
• Identify risks related to tolerances, GD&T, materials, and tooling.
• Prepare accurate estimates for custom and precision-machined components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production for manufacturability.
• Improve estimating accuracy, manufacturability, and quoting efficiency.
