Role Summary

The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on projects, documenting findings and recommending abatement measures.
• Oversee project-specific new hire orientations and ensure compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
• Monitor and support the safety programs of prime contractors and subcontractors.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss safety issues and support safety program implementation.
• Assist in investigating accidents and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with medical facilities for injured employees and monitor their return-to-work process.
• Support safety incentive programs.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, the Senior Safety Specialist will:

• Handle more complex safety hazards and provide advanced solutions.
• Utilize safety management systems for trend analysis and reporting.
• Provide training and guidance on safety topics.
• Assist with insurance audits and manage complex projects.
• Develop and implement training strategies, including digital and on-the-job training.
• Monitor safety metrics and recommend improvements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety software.
• Ability to recognize hazards and enforce safety regulations.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a safety or related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu.
• Minimum of 5 years construction safety experience.

Working Environment

• Valid driver's license required.
