Job summary

ICON seeks a Senior Safety Partner to lead field and project-level safety across residential, commercial, and military construction. You will serve as a strategic advisor to project leadership, build robust APPs, and ensure regulatory compliance on MILCON and commercial programs.

You will autonomously shape safety culture, conduct inspections, lead investigations, and coordinate with HR for return-to-work. This role is based in Austin, TX with up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction safety experience across civil and/or vertical construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 or ability to obtain qualification within 60 days of hire.
• Deep understanding of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926) and related regs.
• Proven ability to develop Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) for complex environments.
• Ability to operate independently across multiple active projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication; regulatory-quality documentation.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Partnership: serve as safety partner to leadership and coordinate with EHS Manager as needed.
• Represent EHS in project planning and pre-deployment meetings.
• Establish safety programs for business units and projects; tailor to site conditions.
• Develop and maintain MILCON APPs on military installations and commercial APPs.
• Identify regulatory gaps and drive corrective actions.
• Conduct site inspections and drive hazard abatement to closure.
• Monitor subcontractor safety program compliance and hold subs to ICON standards.
• Lead new hire safety orientations and ensure ongoing training is documented.
• Attend safety committee meetings and document investigations with root-cause analysis.
• Support return-to-work processes and maintain incident records.
• Maintain audit-ready records of incidents and corrective actions.
