Job summary

Fessler & Bowman in Knoxville, TN seeks a Safety Manager 1 to lead safety initiatives across multiple project sites. You will report to the Safety Director and guide project teams to maintain compliance with industry, local, state, and federal guidelines.

The role requires a bachelor’s in safety or related field, extensive construction safety experience, and OSHA certifications. Travel is required; the company offers strong benefits and a culture of integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, or related field is required.
• 6–8 years in large-scale commercial or industrial project safety, with 4+ years in management.
• Experience developing Job Hazard Analysis and Pre-Task Plans for construction sites.
• OSHA 510 certification is required; OSHA 500 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and drive improvements.
• Develop and manage environmental, safety & health programs across sites.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to manuals, policies, and regulations.
• Create site-specific safety plans and pre-task analysis for activities.
• Oversee incident reporting and investigations; manage action tracking.
