Job summary

Proximiti Safety Group is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to lead the safety function for one or more business units, focusing on technical rigor and clear communication within a team environment on complex projects.

The candidate will drive safety culture, develop project-specific safety plans, and coach teams in hazard identification, while overseeing incident investigations and SafetyNet-based performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred.
  • 5-7 years of construction safety management experience.
  • Associate or CSP certification (ASP/CSP).
  • Instructor certification by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety and health principles, regulations, and interpretations.
  • Ability to identify current and future exposures and recommend corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the safety culture across the business.
  • Develops and ensures distribution of project safety plans for new projects based on Safety Alignment Assessment.
  • Performs SafetyNet inspections with stringent observation targets.
  • Uses SafetyNet to audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety Plan.
  • Analyzes SafetyNet trends and shares insights with project teams.
  • Coaches and mentors project teams in hazard identification and corrective actions.
  • Identifies and provides relevant training within Business Unit(s).
  • Ensures incidents are investigated, documented, and closed per policy.
  • Analyzes leading and lagging indicators and advises leadership on focus areas and trends.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager tolead the safety function for a single Business Unit (BU) or multiple small Business Units. This role is ideal for someone who is highly technical and a strong communicator with the desire to work in a team environment on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the successful implementation of the safety culture across the business.
  • Develops and ensures distribution and understanding of Project specific safety plans for all new projects based on Safety Alignment Assessment.
  • Performs at least 6 SafetyNet inspections per month with at least 100 observations in each inspection.
  • Utilizes SafetyNet to audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety Plan.
  • Analyzes SafetyNet trending reports & share them with project teams.
  • Coaches & mentors project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues using SafetyNet.
  • Identifies & provides relevant training within the Business Unit(s) (i.e. IIF, topical, Blocking & Tackling, Playbooks, etc.)
  • Ensures that all incidents are investigated/ documented/closed per company policy
  • Analyzes leading and lagging indicators, provides direction to Business Unit leadership on focus areas and trends, and recommends corrective actions when needed.
  • Provides development, support, and mentorship for Safety Managers under oversight.
  • Supports business development in responding to client safety pre-qualifications, Safety Presentations, etc.
  • May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior position
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering *preferred
  • 5-7 years of construction safety management experience
  • Associate or Certified Safety Professional certification (ASP/CSP)
  • Certified and authorized instructor by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses to employees and contractors
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety and health principles, techniques, methods, regulations, and interpretations
  • Capable of identifying current and future potential exposures and recommending corrective action
