Job summary

Frederick Fox seeks an experienced Project Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives on large-scale construction projects. You will implement safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct site inspections, and manage incident investigations to protect workers.

Working with field operations, subcontractors, and clients, you will identify hazards, mitigate risks, and promote a strong safety culture across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • 5 years of construction safety experience on commercial, civil, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and safety audits.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to project sites.

Project Safety Manager
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives on large-scale construction projects. This role is responsible for implementing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting site inspections, managing incident investigations, and partnering with project teams to foster a strong culture of workplace safety. The Project Safety Manager works closely with field operations, subcontractors, and clients to proactively identify hazards, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance with applicable safety standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by supporting project teams and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and project-specific safety regulations and requirements.
  • Monitor project safety performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Site Inspections & Hazard Prevention
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of construction sites, equipment, and work activities to identify hazards.
  • Perform daily field observations and document unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with project leadership to eliminate or minimize workplace risks.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and high-risk activity reviews.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state occupational safety regulations, environmental requirements, and client safety standards.
  • Review subcontractor safety plans, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and regulatory reports.
  • Support internal and external safety audits.
Incident Investigation & Risk Management
  • Lead or support investigations involving incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Track safety metrics and monitor trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction.
  • Maintain accurate incident records and regulatory reporting documentation.
Training & Safety Leadership
  • Coordinate and deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee safety training.
  • Educate employees and subcontractors on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor supervisors and field personnel on safety expectations and compliance responsibilities.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Project & Client Collaboration
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide safety guidance and support planning activities.
  • Accompany clients, owners, or regulatory representatives during safety inspections and site visits.
  • Support project teams in resolving safety concerns and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of construction safety experience on commercial, civil, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and safety audits.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as CHST, CSP, ASP, OHST, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting large infrastructure, heavy civil, dam, utility, transportation, or water projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements and risk management practices.
  • Experience working with subcontractor safety management programs.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
