Job summary

Shapiro & Duncan is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist to lead and continuously improve safety programs across project sites in the U.S. This role ensures regulatory compliance, conducts investigations into incidents and near-misses, and develops strategies to prevent hazards and injuries while protecting people and property.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of construction safety experience, OSHA certifications, and strong MS Office skills to document findings and drive safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; experience may substitute for education.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
• OSHA 30‑Hour completed.
• OSHA 510/500 and OSHA 511/501 preferred.
• CHST preferred.
• Background checks required for government projects.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of EPA, NIOSH, ANSI, OSHA 29 CFR 1910 & 1926 standards.
• DOT regulations knowledge preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety program leadership and policy development across sites.
• Conduct impartial investigations of incidents, near‑misses, and injuries.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate job site inspections and report findings monthly.
• Deliver safety training and ensure subcontractor compliance.
• Maintain drug testing program and health and safety records.
