Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Corporate Safety & Health Specialist to lead and integrate safety across diverse construction sites, industrial facilities, and mining operations. You will guide project leadership with expert MSHA/OSHA compliance, investigations, and program development.

The role emphasizes mentoring safety staff, maintaining ISNetworld data, and ensuring adherence to MSHA Part 46/48 training plans while supporting corporate safety strategies and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, construction management, mining, or a related field from an accredited program with at least 7 years of safety leadership experience.
• OR applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• CSP, CHST, or CMSP credential is highly preferred.
• MSHA-certified instructor (Part 46/48) and/or OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer (10- and 30-hour Construction/General Industry) preferred.
• Experience overseeing safety programs across multi-site operations with diverse regulatory jurisdictions (MSHA vs. OSHA).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present complex information to all levels.
• Ability to lead, influence, and manage change; strong project management skills; proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• OSHA/ MSHA knowledge: 29 CFR 1910, 1926, 30 CFR, ANSI, NIOSH, CoE, NEC; Windows proficiency.
• Driving is required with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to safety staff and project teams; manage resources effectively.
• Grow and maintain safety programs and compliance initiatives across projects.
• Integrate safety into project planning, scheduling, and cost analysis.
• Oversee safety profiles in ISNetworld and similar systems with accurate data.
• Serve as primary contact during MSHA/OSHA inspections and manage related proceedings.
• Track labor hours and complete MSHA/OSHA reports and forms.
• Act as SME on MSHA/OSHA regulations and Part 46/48 training.
• Lead investigations for MSHA-reportable and OSHA-recordable incidents and drive root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate with leadership and site staff to ensure safe execution of work.
• Conduct safety audits and participate in risk mitigation communications.
